President Harry S. Truman was confronted with a difficult decision on August 3, 1945 that would drastically change the history of the United States. President Truman decided to drop two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order to end World War II and the U.S. would soon meet another formidable enemy with the beginnings of The Cold War. The Cold War developed anti- and pro-Communist views, shifting the United States’ focus towards defeating Communism and its supporters. The tensions from the Cold War developed into great animosity spurring from the clashing beliefs of Democracy and Communism. 20 years later, U.S. intervention combats Communism’s spread in The Vietnam War. Although the U.S. thought it was necessary to intervene the My Lai Massacre along with other horrific incidents of violence, Communism’s spread and the major disapproval of the war effort characterized the Vietnam War as a failed attempt by the United States to avert unification by Communist nationalist forces in order to preserve and instill Democracy in Vietnam’s government. The Vietnam War’s initial purpose seemed to be clear: to destroy and prevent the spread of Communism to Vietnam and neighboring nations. This notion was backed by the belief that Communism’s spread was similar to falling of dominoes. Women who were depressed by researchers standards were shown to have significantly lower levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids in erythrocytes when compared to those women who were not depressed. The importance of this reminder is quite obvious. We can not without justification put national interests ahead of our humanity. We have learned from mistakes in the past that harsh reparations drive a country to instability, resulting in the rise of dangerous leaders. For instance, Adolf Hitler rose to power because of the harsh reparations after WW I. The ideals behind prudent realism stem from the results of WW I. My approach to prudent realism is to synthesize only a couple points from that school of thought and apply them to hegemonic realism. One aspect of prudent realism that is beneficial is, the analysis of the importance of different global affairs. Prudent realism breaks the severity of threats down into three different categories. Obtaining my degree will benefit me by helping me get the proper education to help further my career I chose in Human Resources. It will open a whole new world for me and allow me to grow. I can obtain my degree which is very important because I want to be financially stable and have a career in Human Resources.College will open doors and provide me with better opportunities than just having a high school diploma. Having a college degree for me would help me achieve what I want and where I want to go. That is to have a stable job and have a decent income coming in so I can live comfortable. One of my reasons for me to go back to college is my only son. He is thirteen now and I am hoping to get my degree before he graduates out of high school. I want him to have a positive role model to look up to. I want him to understand what a college education can provide to him if that’s the path he chooses after high school graduation.My lifelong goals sent me back to school so I can better my life and show my son what a college degree can take you.
